The insurance covered what I needed to when I became sick or had to visit the dentist for a broken tooth. However, not being able to hand the doctors office an actual card that the receptionists knew what to do with was something that prevented me from going to the doctor's more often. Their confusion and sometimes utter disdain for trying to figure out what this type of insurance was, was often too much to handle cross-culturally. I found myself foregoing doctors visits because of this hassle.
