The  Volksbank eG Braunschweig Wolfsburg  is one of the largest credit unions in Northern Germany. The business area includes the regions of Braunschweig, Gifhorn, Salzgitter and Wolfsburg. The head office is in Wolfsburg. Volksbank Braunschweig Wolfsburg currently looks after around 116,000 customers with 590 employees. As members of the cooperative, around 36,000 of them are also co-owners of the bank and help determine its business policy.

In the 2012 financial year, the bank's total assets were 2.15 billion euros, making Volksbank Braunschweig Wolfsburg one of the largest cooperative banks. The history of the bank goes back to the founding of the Fallerslebner Volksbank in 1871. Today's Volksbank Braunschweig Wolfsburg emerged from the merger of Volksbank Braunschweig with Volksbank Wolfsburg in 2005.

In the social area, Volksbank Braunschweig Wolfsburg is involved annually with VR-ProfitSparen. In 2012, the special-purpose proceeds of around 70,000 euros were donated to 52 regional organizations, such as sports clubs.

Deposit insurance

Volksbank Braunschweig Wolfsburg is part of the deposit insurance system of the Federal Association of German Volksbanks and Raffeisenbanken (BVR). With this security system, all customer deposits of the bank are 100% and without limitation. The stability of the Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken in Germany provides additional security, there has never been an insolvency of an affiliated bank and an investor has never suffered a loss of his deposits.
